After toiling over a piece of writing for weeks, months, or even years, it can be nearly impossible for a writer to look at it with an objective eye. This is why editors are an invaluable resource for anyone who is serious about becoming a successful writer. With over three years of experience as an editor at Marquand Books in Seattle (www.marquand.com) I am happy to assist emerging and established writers improve and polish their work.
My areas of expertise are general fiction, romance, fantasy, and children’s, though I am happy to look at other genres and nonfiction works as well.

Manuscript evaluation: If you’ve finished a manuscript and are now contemplating publication, a manuscript evaluation can phenomenally increase you chances. I will read through your entire manuscript and pinpoint overarching problems with the story as a whole. I will provide you with a 3 to 5 page evaluation that takes an in-depth look at the major components of story-telling: plot, setting, characterization, voice, and pacing. I will note inconsistencies and areas that I see as requiring further development or attention. I will not copyedit in a manuscript evaluation, which means spelling and grammar errors will remain untouched.
Price: $0.75 per standard page (1-inch margins, size 12 font, double-spaced)
Copyediting: This is the nitty gritty of editing. You, your editor, and everyone you know have been over your manuscript a dozen times and now all it requires is a final polish to make it shine. I will mark your manuscript for spelling and grammatical errors, look for inconsistencies in tense or voice, and fact-check when necessary.
Price: $2.00 per standard page (1-inch margins, size 12 font, double-spaced)
